Safety Size Tips and Helpful Hints
- Start a gas/vapor filled vessel fire sizing as a ‘Calculate Area / Gas Area’ calculation (if capacity is unknown).
- Start a liquid filled vessel fire sizing as a ‘Calculate Area / Liquid Area’ calculation (if capacity is unknown).
- If fire sizing capacity is provided by end user/customer, there is no need to perform the fired-vessel capacity calculation. Start the sizing as a gas area sizing.
- SafetySize is not a configurator. The program will allow for erroneous material combinations and valve ‘configurations’ to be selected.
- Always use the end-users process data when available. Do not use process data built into the program over a customer’s given data.
- Ask your customer if they prefer to see API or ASME areas.
- Always click on the “Display Model Parameters” button, so that all information will appear on the datasheet.
- SafetySize report print previews can be copied into “Microsoft Word” and modified.
- For 2-phase separated flow method, there is no calculation sheet. Additional gas and liquid calculations must be run to get the calculations sheets.
- Do not use “calculate flow” calc. types for multiple valve sizing.
- The program does not allow you to perform pressure and vacuum calculations at the same time.
- If a fluid property for a fluid that exists in the program database is changed from the default value, add a period (.) to the end of the fluid name, so that the changed property will be saved.
